Nanan Kalia was delighted to be the special guest speaker to help kick-off the Girls English Empowerment Program (GEEP) in beautiful Aboisso, Côte d’Ivoire, not far from the Ghana border. Nanan Kalia spoke to the girls in English and French while discussing the importance and virtues of learning their traditional languages as well. Nanan Kalia shared
her experiences studying in Venezuela, Brazil and France to learn Spanish, Portuguese and French, respectively. GEEP is supported by the Myrhann Foundation and founded by the amazing Mme. MARIE-ANNE ASSANVO, Vice-President of YALI in Côte d’Ivoire. African-American Peace Corp volunteer and English teacher, Ms. Dawna Horton, taught the 20+ Ivoirian girls for their 3-week English intensive overnight summer camp. It was Ms. Horton's first time in Côte d’Ivoire, the love and appreciation was mutual. Nanan Agama Achmy, also from the Brong Kingdom, gave workshops on various cultures within Côte d’Ivoire.
